ABOUT ME
I am a London based interiors art director and PR and marketing specialist. I am passionate about design and interiors and I’m inspired by the world around me.
After graduating with a degree in Fashion Marketing & Communication from Nottingham Trent University I worked as Staff Writer at The Bulletin magazine in Brussels, based in their Lifestyle team. This valuable experience provided the opportunity to see exactly how magazines work and ignited my desire to work within the world of lifestyle media. I love to write and continue to write lifestyle features on my blog at www.tamsinloves.com.
Once back in the UK, my love of writing and all things creative drew me towards a career in fashion PR. I secured my first job working for British retailer Next, where I focused on regional PR for stores and new collections. I stayed at Next for two years and it was here I learnt the fundamentals of effective PR in the retail sector.
After a six month break to travel around South America my next career move took me to another stalwart of the British high street, House of Fraser, where I focused on PR for their home interiors product category. I worked closely with senior management and buying teams to devise strategy and gained the additional responsibilities of organising press shows, coordinating interiors photography and managing the print production of press look books. This enabled me to combine my PR expertise with the creative process of creating lifestyle photography, producing look books and managing events. I got to know homeware product inside out which meant I was able to really maximise media coverage of new product and new collections.
I left my permanent role at House of Fraser in 2012 and worked on a number of projects in a freelance capacity including look book production, event planning / production and the art direction and production of two 40 page customer brochures (for S/S ‘13 and A/W ‘13). I have since worked on photo shoot art direction / production and events for Sainsbury’s Home and have also worked with some smaller brands, advising PR strategy and coordinating photo shoots. I am currently Marketing Communications Manager at Domus where I am responsible for the development and execution of the brand’s marketing communications plan as well as events.
I can help with all aspects of interiors PR and marketing including social media management, blog writing, event management, photography production, art direction, styling, copy writing and print management.
PHOTOGRAPHY ART DIRECTION
I am a super organised project manager and have over seven years experience of managing the production and art direction of interiors photography. I can help with all aspects of shoot planning / coordination and on set management, including creating creative concepts for shoots, budgeting, location sourcing, commissioning and briefing stylists and photographers, briefing set builders and managing the overall logistics of a shoot.
I love to make ideas happen and I specialise in developing creative photography concepts for brands, devising trends and sourcing unique locations . With a forward thinking creative vision, I love the challenge of a new brief where I can develop fresh ideas on how to shoot a trend or how to create new brand imagery, always with the same objective of creating quality, aspirational interiors photography. Photographers I have worked with include Jake Curtis, Chris Everard, Simon Bevan, Debi Treloar and Ben Anders; stylists include Hannah Simmons, Laura Fulmine, Harriet Paterson and Abigail Edwards.
From 2007 until early 2013 I managed the production and art direction of all of House of Fraser’s seasonal interiors photography as well as brand specific photography to launch a variety of new interiors brands to the British market, including:
Living by Christiane Lemieux
Shabby Chic
Kenneth Cole New York
Casa Couture
Pied a Terre Home
My projects for House of Fraser, Sainsbury’s and Domus have involved planning the creative concepts and managing the photographic production and art direction of their customer brochures.
I also have experience of managing the print production process following shoots, working alongside design teams to devise the layout and pagination, managing the retouching requirements and briefing / liaising with printers to manage the print production. The aim is to always ensure the final publication is designed and printed to the highest standard and within budget.
PR
I am a results driven PR professional and with 14 years consumer PR experience in the retail and design sectors. I have a solid track record of securing quality coverage in national titles, consumer publications and on blogs. I am an experienced copywriter and can draft copy or press releases about anything within the realm of lifestyle or retail.
I have extensive experience of planning and delivering PR strategies on tight budgets. I devised the PR strategy for a number of new interiors brands which were launched while I worked at House of Fraser, including Living by Christiane Lemieux, Shabby Chic, Kenneth Cole New York, Casa Couture and Pied a Terre. This involved coordinating lifestyle photography, creating look books, planning launch events and targeting specific media contacts.
